Always exceed your customers expectations, don't be too optimistic with them in order to sell and when something unexpected occurs they will become disappointed and may not come back to you again. For example, if you offer delivery service tell them a longer time than estimated, so when you are late you are on the customer expectation and when deliver on your estimated time then you exceeded the customer expectation and made them happy and eventually have a positive attitude towards you and your company.

There are plenty of examples and applications to exceed the customer expectation in service sector and tangible products.

Little things make difference.
